Hail, northern city folk! This Friday, we're participating in the Edmonton Yule Book Flood along with several other local independent bookstores (Audreys Books, Daisy Chain Book Co, Magpie Books, Porch Light Books, Variant Edmonton, Wee Book Inn, and Bailey Books St. Albert). Organized by Wintercity Edmonton, this festive event is inspired by the Icelandic Jólabókaflóð, referring to the release of new books just before the winter holiday season. In this tradition, families and friends buy one another books as gifts (and perhaps themselves, one might presume!), stay up all night reading them, and drinking hot chocolate.
In embrace of this hygge af notion, we will be staying open late until 9pm along with other participating bookstores. We'll be officially releasing our stockpile of secondhand Christmas books, which we lovingly squirrel away from sight most of the year.
