Peter Midgley was born near a military base in Namibia, raised in the shadow of regional Commando HQ during the South African invasion of Angola, trained to be a soldier in high school. He can still recognize a range of IEDs and has faced the barrel-end of a parabellum. He was fated to become a conscientious objector and oppose violence in any form. He is the author of several books, including let us not think of them as barbarians and Counting Teeth: A Namibian Story.
