The Satanic Verses (Signed)
Indian-born British-American writer Salman Rushdie burst onto the scene with Midnight's Children (1981) a postmodern, magic realist tale set in India that won the Booker Prize and now sits firmly in the postcolonial literary canon. The Satanic Verses (1988) is Rushdie's most famous/infamous work for which he received death threats and a Fatwah post-publication. Rushdie: "Language is courage: the ability to conceive a thought, to speak it, and by doing so to make it true."
