Haruki Murakami 村上 春樹, acclaimed contemporary Japanese novelist, is known for his genre-blurring books inflected by sci-fi and fantasy, magic realism, and crime fiction, infused with darker elements such as trauma and violence as well as dream-like whimsy. This is a First American edition of The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle (2007), signed by Murakami. Translated by Jay Rubin, who translates much of Murakami's work. This specific translation won the 2003 Noma Award for the Translation of Japanese Literature.
