First Edition of This Sweet Sickness (1961) by Patricia Highsmith, best known for her taut psychological thrillers (including the character Tom Ripley) and for penning lesbian classic The Price of Salt, which was adapted into the 2015 film Carol. This Sweet Sickness probes the depths of obsessive love, and was adapted as an episode of The Alfred Hitchcock Hour - fitting for an author dubbed by Graham Greene as "the poet of apprehension."
